DHCP Server with NetworkManager

If you want to setup an Raspberry Pi or BeagleBone it’s often needed that you connect via ssh to this device.

This can be done very easily using Networkmanager.

Select Edit Connections -> Add -> Create (Ethernet) -> IPv4 Settings. Now select as Method Shared to other Computers.

Now give the new ethernet connection a good name.

After connecting the device via ethernet cable to your linux pc select the new ethernet connection.

Now do something like

arp -a

to find out the ip of the device you want to connect to.

The new ethernet connection shares the other connections to the ethernet interface. So if you are connected to the internet via wifi the Pi/BeagleBone will be connected to the internet too.
